Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing this. I went through something similar around the time of menopause and it was the most terrifying experience of my life. I was so grateful my kids were grown and out of the house. I cannot imagine caring for a baby at the same time. It's so unfair that what should be the best time of your life turns into a nightmare for some women.
I’m so sorry you went through that. It really is terrifying to suddenly not recognize your own brain. And menopause!!! You’re so right!!! We REALLY do not talk enough about what these enormous hormonal shifts can do to us. I’m very glad you made it through to the other side. 💜
I’m so sorry you went through that. I’ve felt like a cardboard cutout moving through a world with no color, but I luckily wasn’t a parent yet. I can’t imagine how hard that was, and I’m so glad your parents were able to take care of you for a bit until you started getting better. This is such an important topic, and I’m so glad you shared this story. I’m sure it’ll help someone. And hopefully it helps you.
“A world with no color” is exactly it. I’m so sorry you’ve known that feeling too. And thank God for my parents, I really wasn’t capable of recognizing how much help I needed at that point, so they just swooped in and took over. I’ll always be grateful they did.
Thank you for sharing your story, Liz. I experienced postpartum anxiety and would not be where I am without other mothers sharing their experiences and making me feel like it was okay to not be okay and get help through therapy and medication. We aren’t meant to do this on our own, and that’s so hard to remember in the loneliest of moments. I’m so glad you had support ❤️
Thank you for sharing that. I hate that you know what that felt like, but I'm so glad you found your way through it, it really is the loneliest feeling.
Thank you for your vulnerability in sharing your story. I too am a survivor of depression, anxiety and suicide ideation. The current news story breaks my heart. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm glad you were able to hold on not just those who love you but for yourself.
It's crazy to me how much is expected of mothers. We weren't meant to do this in isolation or go back to work before our dang uterus has even healed!
I hope someday there will no longer be shame attached to needing mental health help at any stage but especially post partum, and that we have an active and knowledgeable medical community ready to step in when needed. Until then, I'm thankful the conversations are happening.
Thank you so much, Lanie. 💜 I’m so sorry you’ve been through that too, but I’m so grateful you’re here to tell your story. I love what you said about how much is expected of mothers…we really weren’t meant to do this in isolation.
